Newport, RI

So I talked about the first two days of our trip back East but I failed to mention the place were were staying. We stayed in Newport, RI and it was pretty. I guess it was a dead season. Half or more of the shops were closed. It is known for the summer season. The population in the summer doubles or more. We walked along the cliff walk for a mile or so. It went for about 4 miles along the coast.

This is the bridge you go from Jamestown to Newport on. At night it lights all up and is beautiful. You have to pay $2 every time you go across it and then $2 when you come back. I'm sure the locals have a pass or discount called the EZ pass, but I don't know how much that is.

Mom and Connelly out in the bitter cold, and that day it wasn't as cold as the prior two days. The prior two days, we stayed in the condo ALL DAY!!! That way we were warm, and didn't spend too much money. The food there was ridiculously expensive. You all know how Frugal I am. I am Frugal on vacation too.

Sun Valley, Idaho 2021

We stayed at a cute log cabin by the path that goes from Sun Valley to Hailey. There was a huge open field where we were able to throw the ball and play with the dogs in the snow. We ate lunches out and cooked the other meals in the cabin.  Connelly got  the French dip, Nate got the Pastrami, Kate got Macaroni salad and I got the Acai bowl! This was our fourth year going to SunValley.  We love to shop at the  thrift store, Gold Mine.  We found a lamp, board games, Sorrel snow boots for kate, beanies, and Corral plates for the kitchen!! GOLD MINE! Connelly went to Bald Mountain for the first time.  He was able to ski just as fast if not as fast as me.  The ski runs there are so long.  I never took the kids because they are  so long and I thought they wouldn't last two runs.  Connelly and I did 5 runs!!  It was so fun.  Then we got the souvenir pins for Dolla...

Found a home

Bell has found a new home. After I put her up for FREE on ksl.com, I got a ton of calls. The first little old lady that came to look at her snatched her right up. I was really surprised because Bell snapped at her right off, but I guess things are going well now. The lady called me later in the day, and said, "thank you, thank you. Bell is the dog I've waited for my whole life." She said that Bell just followed her around all day and the neighborhood kids love her. I'm so relieved.

2020 Update on kids and life

This year the kids did home school from March 2020 until the end of the school year. It was crazy. I would have never known the words Pandemic or Social distancing until 2020. We ended up playing games every night for about 4 hours at the beginning of the pandemic. We made it through the school year. Then we started school in the fall with in person class and we have been so lucky to get through to Christmas break with no breaks from school and we even went five days aweek. Connelly is in 7th grade this fall. He is doing good with all A's so far. He thought he had a B in one class the first term and miracle of all miracles somehow it turned to an A- last minute. He was promised a phone if he gets straight A's for the next two years, 7th and 8th grade. He has worked really had on keeping an eye on his grades. He really is a good kid. I love him so much. He loves to Ski, Ninja, and ride my new mountain bike. I will need to get him a mountain bike next year. ...
